.......meaning what category of A/V gear do enjoy reading about the most, even if you are not looking to buy a new pc. of gear?
For me I would say speakers, even though in S&V it''''s mostly 5.1 systems that get reviewed.
I only read S&V and Home Theater, mainly because It only pisses me off to read about gear that I could never afford.....I''''m better off not even knowing about it, although sometimes It''''s fun to dream. smile.gif border=0
signed,
hungry for high-end. wink.gif border=0

Speakers for me too. Though I do enjoy receiver reviews too.

Yeah, for me it''s speaker reviews, too. I can''t get enough of them.Any audio gear for me is more exciting than video for some reason- receivers, speakers, amps, pre/pros, cables, cd players. (too rare). I''d love to see more audio components in S&V- like a plain old cd player once in a while.
I may prefer to read abut audio because it''s more within my reach economically. You can get a great pair of speakers for $300, but this is not true of televisions! Of course, I like to occasionally read Stereophile, too, even though I can''t afford most of what they review either. I just like to read it once in a while because it''s all audio.

Anything that has to do with B&W speakers... I love every reviews about them. Solid State Amps from Krell, Classe, BAT and Mark Levinson. High End cables would also be in the list; as well as pre/pre and pre-amps smile.gif border=0 .

I like reading about recvrs & spkrs, esp the specs that an independent tester comes up with. For example, for HT recvrs, I like to see what output at clipping is with all channels driven, on 6pc spkr systems I like to see if the lows of the satellites & the highs of the sub actually mesh. I don''t assume that these tests are the final word--I know that I would probably like some products that don''t have great specs, because I don''t have a trained ear. However, just for the hell of it, I like to compare them w/the manufacturer''s stated specs.

I''m upgrading my HT (gradually, as $$ permits), so am interested in speaker and receiver reviews right now. However, I particulary like speaker reviews even when I''m not shopping.

I enjoy audio equipment reviews in general. I am a music first guy so HDTV and video equipment reviews are mainly just FYI for me. But most of all, I enjoy informative reviews. I will read a review on just about anything as long as it is informative. I HATE reviews that spend 3 pages saying almost nothing about the product and telling me how much the reviewer loves the movie they are watching........S&V is sometimes guilty of this and Stereophile guide to HT does it all the time.

I look forward to all articles that involve an interesting piece of equipment, just as long it''s not a boring or cheap model of some kind.
Speakers, receivers, DVD players or HDTV''s it''s all good.
For DVD and receiver specs I always hit the spec sheet first, to see how it did with in-player letterboxing for example, or noise levels in 16-bit audio.
I also like to hear the author mention briefly what other equipment that have paired up with the review at hand.
And I compare his/her ''High points'' and ''low points'' for the particular piece with my own.
< June 19, 2002: Message edited by: Captain RJ >
