In the September issue, Denon's senior sales and marketing vp. wrote HT a critical letter (credit the mag for publishing it) about its publishing of low street prices for Denon equipment (next to MSRP) -- prices associated with unauthorized resellers. Basically, Denon is accusing the magazine of advocating purchasing from unauthorized sources. The writer reminds of the pitfalls of buying from unauthorized resellers and also notes Denon is aware of some resellers' practice of opening up boxes and replacing original serial numbers with fake ones.

On an unrelated note, the issue reviews the 2803 and the 2900 universal player together.

I have the Sept. Home Theater issue also and remember reading about that system that was priced with those "street" prices and I thought it was odd.

Most often I see prices in magazines that are on the high end of what most people pay.
