The new issue is out, and it's chock full of goodies for your home theater buffs.
As always, there is something for everyone in this issue.

WARNING: CONTAINS MAGAZINE SPOILERS.
If your the type that wants to savor the flavor for when the magazine arrives at your door, don't read on. Otherwise, for those that can take it, here's a peek.

This issues happens to be their HDTV special. Five HDTV topics are covered.

First off, we have another "HDTV Buying Guide" starting on page 82, which I believe to be the second one to date. Oh goody!

The second HDTV feature is the 3 RPTV's, including a review of the new 57" HX83(a CRT), the new Philips LCoS, 55PL9973 and RCA's new DLP HDLP50W151(pg 92.). The Denon DVD-2900 is also reviewed on pg 55.
There are another three HDTV features that I'll leave you to read about.

Reviews:

For you Rotel fans, an "Exclusive" review of the RSP-1098 preamp/processer can be seen on pg 59. Nice!
Sound and Vision also does a spotlight of DVD Recorders, 3 of 'em are reviewed, including a Sony, Panny, and a Philips. This ought to be interesting.
To top it off the new Sony 34XBR910 is reviewed on page 49, another Exclusive for S&V. Oh man, I can't wait.

Now if you don't mind, I have some reading to do..............
/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif

Your welcome ferdelance.

Seems there is an error, the new Toshiba 57" should be the 57HL83 model number, not the HX prefix, which is found only in the 65" big brother.

Mag,
Do you mean the article about the marantz pre/pre and 7 channel amp, or the new NHT electrostatic speaker line???'/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif'...

'/idealbb/images/smilies/10.gif'
Easy-E.

I was thinking of the Marantz pre/pro with THX ultra-mega NHT calibration since he already has the amp and speakers to match.

At that low cost, he''d be crazy not to check it out! /idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif

Woohoo, my issue arrived. Went straight to the Denon 2900 review, since I got mine like a week ago. Called it a bargain at $1000. Got mine for about half that. /idealbb/images/smilies/16.gif Haven''t even scanned the rest of the issue, but it looks killer.

I read the review of the 2900 also. But whats up with the 2 new models on the rear cover? Is the DVD2200 a cheaper player?Whats the differance in the 2900 and 2200.

Catfish - All 3 "universal" players are on the www.usa.denon.com website. You can compare them all.

The main difference between the 2200 ($629) and 2900 is the chassis (including weight, size), audio DAC, and $370 difference.

The 5900 ($2,000) is much more upscale, with different video chip, Firewire and Denon Link output, BNC component connectors, etc...

Thanks Ray..After posting I did look on the Denon site.It looks to me that the 2200 is close to the 2900.But as you said at a more down to earth price ,IMO.Since i''ve been looking at universal players lately the 2200 is looking highly favorable to me.I was just hoping it was going to be closer to the 500.00 range.
/idealbb/images/smilies/15.gif In your eyes, looking at the specs of the 2900 and 2200,what would you go with?I only ask out of curosity. Thanks

Catfish - The street price of the 2200 should be quite close to $500. I''ve always thought the $999 2900 a bit over-priced. Looking at the specs, as well as history of Denon''s various DVD and DVD-A players, I think the 2200 is a much better value.

Ray,that was my thoughts exactly.I liked the 2900 but just could not see paying the price. With the 2200 out it is more in my budget range and seems like a great deal. Now I''m glad I did hold out on the 2900.Hopefully my dealer has them coming so I can take a peak.Hopefully they will make a changer soon so Yesfan want be left out.Or maybe he will rethink on this universal player now.hint, hint
