My CD player in my car died. I''''ve got one of those Nissan/Bose systems. I tried the radioshack CD disk to clean the optics, but that didn''''t work. Any other ideas because I''''m back to listening to tapes!

You could always buy an aftermarket cd player for your car. If you order from crutchfield they give you everything necessary you could possibly imagine, plus step by step instructions for your car and connectors. Really slick stuff. I think pioneer makes pretty good cd players for cars. Alpine and Clarion are other brands to look at. You might also think about going for XM radio while your at it.

Try the dealership and see how much they''ll charge you for replacing the head unit.
It might be better if you replace it with a new model that will play MP3''s and CD-R and CD-RW''s.
XM radio is also a good thing to consider if you''re in your car a lot.
wink.gif border=0

Slightly off topic, but not too much.
I had my Toyota Camry stolen six months ago, and after it was recovered, there was a big open spot in the dash. When Allstate came down, I (like A fool!) told them than I had replaced the original AM/FM/Tape deck with a Pioneeer AM/FM/CD player worth $200.
The agent told me if it was the original, it was worth $1,500.
Guess what I got?
$200.
And I still have the ($1,500) "original" in my garage.
Bob R
angryfire.gif border=0
< April 25, 2002: Message edited by: Bob R >

LMFAO!!!!!! You should know Bob that you never say anything to insurance agents. Their JOB is to make sure that company pays out less than the actual damage incurred!
Masher

Masher:
I should have known better. At the time, I thought the CD player was much more valuable than the factory radio. Never too old to learn!
(Picture of Bob Hanging his head in shame)
btw: I probably shouldn''t ask what your abbreviation means. But could someone please tell me what "LOL" means?
biggthumpup.gif border=0
< April 26, 2002: Message edited by: Bob R >

The Nissan/Bose sound system is top notch. Plus they''ve got special amplified speakers that work with the head unit. So I''d have to rip everything out and replace it. I still have a Pioneer 120w multi cd changer head unit sitting on the shelf I pulled out of my Explorer when I sold that. I had Polk speakers all around with a sub in the rear. The whole thing was close to 2G''s and the bose system sounds just as good. I was hoping for something like go buy this special tool to clean the optics or something like that.
