Ok guys here it is.....I have to deploy and leave my $10k system behind, and I need to buy a set of headphones within the next 2 days. I am so busy I dont have time to audition only place an order online.....I am looking in about the $150 range.....What is my best bet?
I listen to Rock/Metal/Acoustic.
Considered so far:
SENNHEISER HD-570
SONY MDR-CD780
(found good online deals)
I dont care much for Sony, but some reviews say the 570''''s have harsh mid/highs (not good for rock ect.)
I need personal preferences fast!
Thanks!

At Best Buy there is a Bose model I bought. Don''t know the model number but they are blue. Light blue in color and saound incredible. They block out external noise and are ideal for plane travel.

my vote would go to the sennheiser. if you can find the hd600, that would be even better. if you need these for air travel, i would recommend etymotics, but for regular home use the sennheisers are tough to beat in this price range. for more specialized advice, try posting your question on head-fi.org.
good luck

I want to go with the Sennheisers, however I have heard that there may be some trouble powering these from a laptop.....I plan to have these for years to come, but this situation has prompted my intrest in buying a set.....
anyone got 2 cents on powering them from a laptop? Would I need a headphone amp for sound to be sufficient?

A headphone amp would help with the sound quality.

Come back safe, we want to see more of your posts in the future. frown.gif border=0 smile.gif border=0

A headphone amp would help if your laptop has a week output. The head-hifi PLA-1 is Li-Ion powered and will charge from your laptop USB port. www.head-hifi.com

Funny you mention Prozakk(Jerry), I talked to him on the phone just 2 days ago after not hearing from him in a long time. He's doing fine...he had some questions about his new 80 GB iPod.
