I''m getting ready to finally buy a new CD/reciever for my truck and have been planning on buying an Alpine CDA-9813, but at a local shop I saw some Eclipse units.

I know very little about Eclipse after doing a quick search on the ''net. I like the simple look of the Eclipse decks vs. the popular "light display" that most other brands have, thats one more reason why I like the Alpines.

I've only read reviews about them on Moblie Entertainment Magazine. Most reviews have been good though.

www.mobile entertainment mag.com

S & V Moderator'/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif'

Eclipse are highly regarded amongst car audio enthusiasts who favor sound quiality...that being said, Alpine''s head units will net you more features (such as EQ and Time alignment)and comparable sound quality for the money...if you''re looking at either brand''s higher end offerings you won''t be disappointed...

Thanks for the replies guys.

Well, today I went back to the shop where I saw the Eclipse units and since I had the cash in my pocket, I decided not to put it off any longer.

I got the best Eclipse head unit that they carry. I think there are 3 models above mine. For $340 I think it is a good deal.

Now onto step 3...sub and amps.

http://www.eclipse-web.com/products/cdtuner/image/cd5423.jpg

MODEL 5423

I have always love the Kickers Solo-Barics Subs, they used to make the round ones now it's the Squared L7's. You might want to take a look at those, but they're not cheap they retail for 299.99 they have plenty of output watts for the 10" subs power range 75-600 watts RMS (300 watts per coil) and peak power handling 1,200 watts. there's the lesser L5's for 199.99 rated watts a little lower.

VegaXK8,

Keep in mind that I am putting this gear in a 2003 F-150, regular cab, so I don''t have much space behind the seats.

What I have already is a dual 10" QLogic box (.65 per side), so I think I''ll put some decent 10" subs in that for around $200 and spend about $350 on an amp.

After I do that, I plan to add atleast a 2-channel amp for my Infinity component speakers that I have in the doors...maybe a 4-channel amp if I have any room left behind the seat for another pair of speakers, possibly moving the Infinity speakers to the rear and buying better speakers for the doors.

The JL stealth box is a great idea. Unfortunately I have never owned a vehicle they make one for... I will have to agree with the recommendation on the JL subs. They make some really nice stuff. As for amps, I have always liked Orion. I would stay away from Alpine amps. They tend to have a lot of problems.
