I just am on a budget and I just got an Eclipse cd3402(bottom of the line).
I am looking for a cheap pair of high quality 6 1/2''s and 6*9''s. I am looking to spend less than $300. I want speakers with some bass because I don''t have the money for a sub. (But not boomy bass)

Let me get this straight, you want to spend $300 on a pair of 6.5 and a pair or 6 x 9 speakers?

S & V Moderator
/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif

First off I would shop online at cruthfield or sounddomain. You will get better prices than you would at a local store. Then if you want them profesionally installed you can still go to BB or CC, or your local car audio store and get it done there. You will still save money this way. As for what to get here are a few suggestions.

For 6.5''s I would pick from these three:
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-awMbMcoB4zb/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52000&I=107DB650&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-awMbMcoB4zb/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52000&I=108625I&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-awMbMcoB4zb/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52000&I=109GTO636&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

As For 6x9''s I would say these three would do you good too:
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-awMbMcoB4zb/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52300&I=1089603I&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-awMbMcoB4zb/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52300&I=107DB690&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-awMbMcoB4zb/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=52300&I=500SPS690A&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

Staying with Alpine, Polk, Kenwood or Infinity should do you fine. I have no experience with Blaupunkt so I have no idea what they sound like or there sturdyness. Pioneer....I don''t know...they look to be getting weaker as of late. I know a few people that are not pleased with their Pioneer speakers. RF...I have some 6" Fosgate punch''s. I like them. But if you are willing to spend more money then you are better off with the above suggestions. If you are in a money crunch than Fosgates are a good altenative. Sony....blah....I hate the red plastic cones. JBL...again no experience, but I have heard positive things.

Hope this helps!

Avsfan

I have an Eclipse head unit (CD5423)

http://www.eclipse-web.com/products/cdtuner/image/cd5423.jpg

For speakers, in the doors of my F150, I have Infinity Reference component speakers that I bought at Crutchfield for $130 when they were discounting them. Now there is a new model for this year. These speakers sound better than I expected, and because they are very efficient, I am using the amp in the head unit to drive them, which I had first thought would not have enough power.

These Infinity speakers will not deliver any real bass...I use 2- 10" Polk subwoofers with a Sony 4 channel amp bridged for 2 channel operation...150 W RMS or so to each Polk.

It is not easy to get good bass from using just 6 inch/ 6 x 9 speakers...maybe add a sub w/ amp later.

Hey, you could also check out www.thezeb.com They have great prices (also price match), free shipping on orders over $99 (i think), and a 90 day return policy (that I have used.) Good stuff at a great price. Here''s what I would recommend:

Pioneer (Personally I like them, and they are great for the price. Great bass!)
TS-D160R $82.99
TS-D690R $107.99 (you might be able to find this cheaper, so they will match the price)

4 channel amps to get the most of your speakers:
Profile
CA440 $99.99

= 290.97 + wiring

Should be a great sounding system without any subs.

~J
