View Full Version : Re: use of subwoofer.com driver in a KLH as upgrade?

Hi, I am setting up a surround with B $ W 203''''s 303s and the matching center. I have a 120 W 10 sub by KLH- got it cheap at costco a while back... for $100 it''''s a good deal. I''''d like the sub to complement the new surround. Do you think swaping the driver with one from subwoofer.com would be a good (and reasonable) upgrade? Thank you

Swapping the drivers on a subwoofer might help but you''re never really going to know if it will be a good match since the company designs its drivers and amps on a subwoofer to complement each other.
A better alternative may be to save and wait and get a decent subwoofer for about $300 or more. Energy, Pinnacle, Paradigms have good small subwoofers that is reasonably priced.
Hope this helps. smile.gif border=0

Probably not a good idea,
the amplifier used with the KLH will likely be specifically designed to match that driver''s perfromance capabilities. You might see a slight improvement by adding a new driver...but I''d just goto
www.onecall.com and check out the JBL D112s before that. Last I saw, they were <$200.
very decent subs for that price,
TV

The driver that is currently in there matches the volume, different companies require different volumes. I would use the money to purchase a new sub, instead of the woofer.
Masher
