Someone asked me what the advantage of having a HDTV is over a regular TV when viewing DVD''''s. In terms of picture quality, I believe that hdtv is better but i could not explain why. A little help please.
To put it simply, you get twice the resolution. A regular TV can''t play a proggresive image and even if you dont have a progresive dvd player, the line doublers will improve the picture quality. Even my older VHS tapes look better.

The picture quality will be improved only if the TV is an HDTV capable television AND the DVD player is Progressive Scan. Witout Progressive Scan, the DVD picture will look the same on any given TV. That is, the lines of resolution are the same. Improvement in picture will need to come from the source equipment. In this case, the DVD player!
