You said : positive or negative feedback. Well heres the negative. I don''t think that the Denon 5800 is the right receiver for your system. Just get rid of it and send it to my address. Just kidding. You have an excellent ht and 2 channel stereo system. Nice pics. Man I need a digital camera. Much clearer than what a scanner can do.<p>< February 25, 2002: Message edited by: del44 ></p>

Del44<p>The Denon5800 is very nice smile.gif border=0 great for HT yes. I feel like I need need an extra amplifier for more power though. A new upgrade kit for it ( which include PLII and THX Ultra II would be nice ). Other than that? It''s perfect for HT. smile.gif border=0 Thanks for the kind word.

Thanks guys for the nice comments smile.gif border=0 . <p>Captain RJ<p>My discontinued DVD player is still in great condition. Although I love to get that new DVD9000 from Denon but it''s a little bit pricy. I would go great with my TV but the prices is a grand more than the TV itself. I watch movie 30% and don''t need a newer player for now. Anyhow thanks for the comments and recommendation.<p>H2lentino<p>The sub is a great unit. My HT room is 20x20 yet it fills the entire room with the lows I need. I love the piano finish and the two 10 side firing on both side. What volume setting did you set? and what is the crossover on your sub? I just want to know so I can set it correctly. I had that thing for over 2 years now and still don''t know how to set it smile.gif border=0 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Igore, thanks. Gee, I totally forgot my settings. The only thing I can tell you is that I put its volume level normally in the ''5'' position and adjust it less or more depending on the material I am playing and how loud. I guess my settings will be totally different than yours because for sure we have different room/environment dimensions. Do you still have its manual? If not, you can print it from this site:<br /><a href="http://www.polkaudio.com/home/products.php?category=7&speaker=48" target="_blank">PSW-650</a>

igore i love your set up, that classe equipment looks so nice! man i can almost hear how beautiful your set up sounds just looking at it... i am just curious the one piece on top is the controller right? the piece below it what is it a cd player or dvd? and if you don''t mind how much did your classe'' pieces cost you, and last thing i would like to post pictures of my sytem but i don''t know how...
Igore
April 9th, 2002, 00:55
Thanks David smile.gif border=0 <p>I have listenedd to Krell and other manufacturers and Classe'' was my choice. They sound warm and realistic. My entire sytems cost under 25k. The one on top that you have mentioned is the Pre-amp. I was thinking of upgrading it to the top of the line ( in about two months or so). The one in the middle is both cd/dvd player. It has two lazer lens; one for DVD and one for cd playback so it does not degrade the sound. I use it for cd playback only and the dvd is never used. The last equipment is the Sony SACD. smile.gif border=0 About posting your pix. You have to have website of your own. I don''t know which one to recommend you. I know that Yahoo Geocities is one and it''s free; yet it''s not easy to work with. I use the one that my Internet service provider has given me and it''s very easy to use. Call your ISP and ask them if they can give you a free website of your own. Good Luck smile.gif border=0
Killer system Igore! Have you ever tried those B&W''s for home theater?(I bet they''d be great also, but you''d probably want more power than the Denon offers)Are they the nautilus 803''s? Do you know if Parasound amps would go well with B&W speakers?
Igore
April 9th, 2002, 06:41
Thanks for the nice comments The_croc_hunter. I have tried it with the Denon Receiver using an outboard Amps of Denon. The sound is superb!!!. Like you said, it needed more power for those N803. The speakers that I currently use in my HT setups works fine with the receiver. I''m very happy with them. Those are AR Phantom Series which I think are discontinued. There is a review on those speakers in S&V archive. I listen mostly to music (75%); therefore what I have in my HT is more than what I need smile.gif border=0 . About the Parasound, I haven''t listened to them with B&W speakers; but with Polkaudio. I find them to be very good in construction as well as music reproduction. I would put them right next to Rotel equipments and the like for comparison. I''ve read about the new line that Parasound has come out (Halo). I''m sure those will work exceptionally with B&W as well as other great speaker manufacturers.

Igore you rock. And, not that it''s any big deal but did you mean both systems (combined) for under 25k? This weekend I checked out a 2 channel system Krell and Wilson with Marantz CD that came in at @ 35-40k and I would guess your 2 channel rig would give it a run. BTW, it was GREAT. But, you have put together 2 very nice systems. Again: Igore, you rock.<br />randy wink.gif border=0
Igore
April 9th, 2002, 16:27
Thanks for the kind word Randy, the price mentioned was for my 2 stereo system. Both of my sytems combined would be around 30~35k ( estimate ) I really like Krell but if I were to buy the same configuration as my current setup it would overshoot my budget. Classe Audio also has an ultra high end series (Omega series) and that would put them competively against Krell and the likes. Again my budget was not able to reach that mark. Anyhow, I''m overly happy with my setup. smile.gif border=0 Once again thanks everyone for your remarks! Happy Listening!

Igore,<br />Very nice looking system, everything clashes well together. About how long did you finally wait for the dealer to deliver those monoblocks?<br />Oh man....monoblocks....Igore I like your taste in equipment...it''s gotta sound pretty sweet!<br /> biggthumpup.gif border=0 <br />Got a question though. In the Home Theater pic, what piece do you got sitting just above the Denon POA-5200, and below the Denon DVD-1500?<br />I don''t think you listed that piece among the group.<br />It looks like a Sony ES model, either a single well cassette tape or DAT deck. Fill us in on what that is.<p>A couple of years ago I flew from NY to visit one of Long Beach''s California''s biggest attraction, the RMS Queen Mary Hotel.<br />About how far are you from the hotel?.....hmmmmmm.........think I might/should drop by your place with a couple of CD''s, and DVD''s......and an overnight bag.<br />kkkiiiiiddddding.<br />Seriously though...thanks for the new pics. tongue.gif border=0 <p>< April 09, 2002: Message edited by: Captain RJ ><p>< April 09, 2002: Message edited by: Captain RJ ></p>

I gotta hand it to you Cappie! You got sharp eyes. Yes that is a Sony XA20ES Cd player. The one you put your cd in and then place a dish on top of the cd for balance configuration. The sound is pretty amazing smile.gif border=0 . I live north of Long Beach; which is about 10 mins away from the Queen Mary. THanks for the comments smile.gif border=0 .

Congrats on finally getting your monoblocks! Things look great, and I''m sure that it sounds even better! Way to go! It must be a real joy to have everything finally in place. I know how it feels to get a major upgrade into your system, and to then bask in its glory... Just remember to take a break to eat and sleep every once in a while! smile.gif border=0

Thanks Jonathan, I will eat normal, now that my amps are here. I called the shop so many times they got frustrated but heck; I pay a load of money for those units and I expect to have them in my place. I even email Classe'' to see if any order have been made by that store. They were really friendly and confirmed that the dealer did made the call for the orders smile.gif border=0 Well things are looking great now. There is still one more upgrade I would like to make. That is my preamp. Obviously I won''t be ordering from this same shop smile.gif border=0

Igore,<br />If I remember correctly, the CDP-XA20ES has balanced outputs. Are you using them at all here or anywhere else you have balanced I/O''s in your system?<br />In b/n your eating, and sleeping have you done a comparision and small differences of sound quality b/n the DVP-S9000ES and the XA20ES, and/or even the Classe'' DVD/CD player?<br />Very interested if your ears(probably golden) can hear the differences between these fine specimens.
Igore
April 10th, 2002, 16:17
Well Capt, I did a comparison with the 3 units. Both of the Sony''s have no balanced output and they sound exactly the same. The only different when comparing the two''s and hear a different is when I play the 9000ES with SACDs. Of course that is not a fair comparison smile.gif border=0 . When I compared the 9000ES with the Classe'' CD/DVD, I wouldn''t say different but it seems like there is more music in the Classe'' Cd player than the Sony 9000ES. Example when I listened to Engima, I hear instruments playing in the background that I couldn''t hear in the Sony 9000ES. Maybe my imagination has gone wild but I love all 3 of cd players and does not favor one over the other smile.gif border=0 . Have a good day Cappie! biggthumpup.gif border=0
Captain_RJ
April 12th, 2002, 01:04
Thanks Igore...I did have a good day.<br />My bad, I thought that Sony cd player had balanced outputs. I must of been thinking of the CDP-XA7ES.<br />The subtle differences that you hear in the Classe'' CD/DVD player is that through balanced or un-balanced I''O''s?<br />I''ve never seen the Classe'' upclose, nor do I know it''s detailed specs, i.e. weight, copper-plated chassis? maker of MPEG decoder, real alumnium tray or plastic?, etc.<br />Why don''t you tell us about it along these lines.<br />Have a great weekend.<br /> biggthumpup.gif border=0
Igore
April 12th, 2002, 01:22
RJ <p>Yes, the unit is all aluminum. The faceplate amazes me with about half an inch brushed aluminum. Everything is balanced from input to output. All the circuit boards, totoroil, chips etc are made by Classe'' cept the tray which is borrowed from Philips. I don''t know why, maybe because Sony and Philips were the creator of the first CD I suppose? The only thing I don''t like about that unit is the tray. It''s made out of plastic, and makes noise as it opens and shut. Everything else is perfect smile.gif border=0 . Here''s more information on the cd/dvd-1 if you''re interested <a href="http://www.ambrosia.com/CES2001/classe2.html" target="_blank">http://www.ambrosia.com/CES2001/classe2.html</a> and here''s the link to ClasseAudio websites. <a href="http://www.classeaudio.com" target="_blank">www.classeaudio.com</a> smile.gif border=0<p>< April 11, 2002: Message edited by: Igore ></p>

Thanks for the info sir.<br /> smile.gif border=0 <br /> Sounds like a purdy model. What was the damage if you don''t mind me asking? Did you get a deal cuz you bought more than just one thing?<p>Yes, your right, since Sony And Philips NV invented the technology, they have patents on the CD transport these days. I do believe they do make some of the most reliable in the market.
Igore
April 12th, 2002, 01:52
Well Captain<p>There weren''t any damage to the unit as I bought it at full price and brand new in a sealed box. Classe'' could have chosen a better tray with mininal noise but they didn''t. All of their Cd players makes more noise than other manufacturers. I also have a Denon 1650AR and the tray is well constructed with minimal noise as it open and shut. That goes for the Sony XA20ES and DVP9000ES. I guess what Classe'' should do is to upgrade the transport to a better one smile.gif border=0 . About the deal with the dealer. I got 10 percents off for my B&W as well as my speaker wire and interconects. As for Classe'' Equipment, there was no deal. smile.gif border=0 Okie Captain " Take her to sea" and have a great weekend also.<p>< April 11, 2002: Message edited by: Igore ></p>

April 13th, 2002, 02:39
Yes Dave you are right... smile.gif border=0 <br />I didn''t know the cost of this really high-end(and obviously very good) DVD player. <br />It''s interesting to see how much more you have to pay to get the pinnacle of DVD performance. As you are able to witness the subtle but existing differences in sonic and visual performace.<br />The Sony DVP-S9000ES is considered by some in the industry to be the near pinnacle as far as picture quality goes. But that old saying, you get what you pay for is always the case, especially in players like the Classe'', the Arye D-1, and the California Labs CL-2500.
Igore
April 13th, 2002, 03:34
My mistake CaptainRJ and Dave smile.gif border=0 <p>The cd/dvd-1 was the replacement of the CD1.5 ( sans DVD) I use the Cd/DVD-1 mostly for cd playback. I did compared it with the Sony 9000ES for DVD purposes and find it to be in the same range ( picture wise ) The price tag for this unit is 3K smile.gif border=0 My reason of purchasing this unit was 1) sound quality 2) looks and match with the rest of the gears in the setup. 3K is probably too much for a CD player, but it''s well worth every penny for me. Okie Captain RJ and Dave. Have great weekend!

The Pioneer Dv-47a is great...........of course compared to two channel audio almost all SACD and DVD-Audio is gonna be awesome so that goes unsaid. The only way I can compare it is that I previously had a Sony SCD-C555ES SACD player, which is just a step down from their top of the line SCD-1 and the Pioneer creates a more detailed soundstage and the one thing that really stood out is that it projected the depth and individual sonics of the recording area much better.

Well, I have finished upgrading with my 2 channel setup. No more upgrade for a long time. Now it''s the HT setup that is in need of upgrading. I got the Rotel RSP1066 and RB1080 sitting in the boxes.
