Sounds like you have a great set-up. I especially like your Sony 40" XBR! That is a monster tube TV! smile.gif border=0

thanks for the positive feedback, guys!
Igore- denon and i go quite a ways back, and they''ve never let me down.
jstwong- i couldn''t be more happy with my sony. it''s big enough to do a good job on anamorphic dvd''s (37" in 16:9 mode), and videogames look extremely cool on it. you''re the reason i have it in the first place-- i was going to get a 36" panasonic, but you told me about sony''s vertical compression for anamorphic displays. in looking into it, i found the then new 40" XBR. i actually had to return the panasonic, which i had in layaway, and i''m ever so glad i did. many thanks. it about killed me and my friend, though, bringing it up the stairs to my apartment-- that *%$@&#! weighs as much as a volkswagon!
< February 10, 2002: Message edited by: sauget.diblosio >

Oh man that is a beautiful TV I got the Sony 43" HDTV, but I would gladly sacrifice 3" of TV for a tube type picture if I could afford it.

How do you like the Denon DCM-4800, or whatever model DVD player it is. The 5 DVD-Audio/Video changer, that is. Somewhere down the line I am going to want to add a DVD-Audio 5.1 piece to my system and I keep hearing it is a good piece and really light in weight.
Denon has a 3800 DVD-Audio coming out soon too, but I think it will be a single disc and not 5. I was curious about the 4800 price becaise it is $1200 MSRP and the newer 3800 single disc player will be the exact same price. So, do you think the 4800 will be a higher price, or is the 3800 a better player than the 4800?
I really love Denon and wish they''d come out with an AFFORDABLE DVD-Audio/SACD universal player.

S & V did a write up about the DVM-4800 in the Jan. 2002 issue and it got a good review ( yea, like we wouldn''t know that) but you might want to check it out. Also I noticed the 4800 had a different Progressive scan spec than my 2800. like one is called pure progressive and the other is true progressive. I don''t know if that makes a difference. Also the article was bragging that the 4800 had a Bass management system. Take a look.
< February 15, 2002: Message edited by: Vinigraz >

I own one. Picture quality is fantastic, DVD-A playback is incredible (no bass problems that I can hear), and regular CD playback is great. The only complaint that I have disc spin-up takes a while and the changer takes a while changing discs. Otherwise I love it and would recommend it to anyone. Oh yeah - on screen menus make setup very easy too.

I saw the 4800 review. I am waiting to see the 3800 when it is reviewed. At $3500, Denon can shove the reviews up their ....
