Two questions: How''d you fit all that into your dorm room? Yours must be wayy bigger than mine. And also, how do you manage to get any work done?!
From one (envious) college student to another, Nice System!

You''re one of those guys I used to love befriending at school. I always wanted to have access to cassette (back in prehistoric days) deck to make tapes for the Walkman I used for running.

Hey guys im glad to see some responses. Well i live off campus now, but get this i used to live in the fraternity house! Yea i could use bass waves to piss just abou anybody off in that rickety house; the only problem was that i wound up pissing everyone off biggthumpup.gif border=0 anyways i have a question: my dvd player has 6 channel analoge outputs and my receiver has a 6 channel input but it does not decode dts but my dvd player does. so, should i use the dvd players dts decoder just pass it straight to the 6 channel ext input on the receiver? Is their really a better soun from dts on most dvds? Also everyone complains that their dvd-audio player cant adjust the level or delay, but my "low-end" jvc does and you can adjust the level agian on the receiver. Does anybody know if this is what people are asking for on new dvd-audio players? Oh what are your favorite discs, i love having my fraternity buddies sit around listening to jazz or blue-grass cause they are just stunned by the sound quality and mixes. Using the DVD player''s DTS decoder should work well. However, there''s no significant improvement on the sound in DTS. There may be a bit more extention due to less compression on DTS but it will be very subtle.
On high end systems you will distinctly hear the better channel separation. But again it''s subtle.
Since you have DVD-Audio you should use the 6 analog outputs to get the full DVD-A experience. Try the BuenaVista Club DVD-A which is a great demo disc for DVD-A.
Unfortunately at this point most multi-channel Jazz/Bluegrass discs are in SACD format.

Hope this helps.
wink.gif border=0

.....and at this point you''re not really missing a hell of a lot as far as DVD-A/SACD goes.

Hey drewez,
Nice system, you must have mowed a whole lot of lawns, I''m three years out of college and still looking up at you. A word of advice though: Put all the components in a fully protected entertainment center and cover the speakers with sheets or blankets. I can''t tell you how many times I saw some drunken idiot ruin a piece of audio gear by mistaking it for a coaster or just flat out taking a header across the room and crashing into a speaker. Protect your investment.

ABCIII, i beg to differ. you should check it out. I would think dvd-a was a worthwhile investment even if no more disc were ever made. But Im sure that wont be the case.
