I had a lot of equipment accumulated over time and wanted to have it all operate as one unified multi-room, multi-zone system. Along the way, I discovered that this can be done with excellent results for not a lot of cash. When I upgraded the receiver in my main system, I got one with zone 2 a/v outputs. I then spent about $500 on wireless remote repeaters, a/v wall-plates, a line-level distribution amp and a whole lot of quad-shielded RG-6. I simply put the distribution amp in the attic, dropped a set of cables to a wall-plate in each room and plugged in my gear. I can now use any of the source components in my main system from my bedroom or family room and I didn''''t spend a ton of money doing it.
My main system consists of the following:
Marantz SR-7000 Receiver
Marantz MM-9000 170x5 Amplifier
Integra DPS 7.2 DVD Player
Proscan DVD Player
JVC S-VHS ET VCR
Sony Direct TV Receiver w/Dolby Digital
RCA Ultimate TV Direct TV Receiver
DVDO iScanPlus Scaler
Hitachi 43" Widescreen HDTV
Paradigm Reference 40 Main Speakers
Paradigm Reference CC Center Channel
Paradigm Monitor ADP-370 Surround Speakers
Paradigm PS-1000 Subwoofer
Energy EPS-150 Subwoofer
Monster and MIT speaker wire
Monster M Series, Monster Interlink, IXOS Bronze, IXOS Silver, Tara Labs Prism and Wire World interconnects.
All video sources are output as S-Video, switched through the receiver, passed through the scaler and output to the HDTV as 480p.
The front three speakers are bi-amplified by the SR-7000 and MM-9000.
