Got an email from Pioneer, saying I''m a member of a class action suit against them, for my DV 563a universal player, because it won''t play certain dvd-a music discs. We''ve had discussions in the past, about the discs these players wouldn''t play. Go here and click on first link under "Product Upgrades & Notices":
Notice of class action suit
Good luck!

There''s an option for a rebate, if you replaced the player with another brand.
There''s three options to choose from.

Yeah, I read that option. I just do not meet the requirements for that option. Since the Oppo was purchased more then 12 months after I picked up the DV563A.

Most likely, I just send it in for the free firmware update.

Owl

Thanks emoxley, I have a DV578 which stopped working right before the warranty ran out. I saved the unit, the box, and the receipt so now I can at least excercise one of the two options that I quality for. The firmware upgrade won't necessarily fix why my machine stopped working. Perhaps I should get that new Oppo everyone raves about and take the rebate.

update...yeah, where the hell is that receipt?

I have every Best Buy receipt EVER right in front of me...except that one.

'/idealbb/images/smilies/7.gif'

Wow! That''s not just one model, that''s a page and a half of players / HTIB''s that were supposed to play DVD-A''s which were affected.

I paid so little for both of my players, I just let it slide and avoided certain titles. I''m thinking I''m going to get the 563A upgraded. The 578A seems to play anything.
