I recently purchased a Panasonic Plasma TH-42PX60U. I can not get my local HD channels to be displayed. I have auto programmed a ton of times but no luck. My local HD channels are brought into my house via a coaxial cable that receives hd signals via over the air hd antennas. The same cable carries an Directv signal (no hd). What am I doing wrong?

My HDTV LCD Magnavox picks up the HD signals without any issues. I have already replaced the Panasonic tv thinking the Digital tuner was bad. Please help.

Griot
I t appears from what you have written that you have both your Sat and your HD OTA carried over the same coax cable. You can''t do that. My great room has both (an HD reciever box and an OTA antennea) they have to both be carried on seperate coax lines, if you had an HD receiver box you could then plug the OTA line into the reciever box to get onscreen guide along with your sat guide. But yes they need two seperate lines. Then those two lines must be plugged into two seperate inputs. So you would watch sat on Video 2 for example and your OTA on Video 1 (depending on which input has a coax cable input attached to it.) After plugging in the OTA coax cable, you would have to have the TV go through it''s setup menu so it could "find" the local and HD channels and lock them in. (hope this isn''t getting confusing) Have you considered going to BB and buying a standard Directv HD box (they cost 99.00) and then plugging the OTA and Directv into a two into one splitter from there to the sat in on the HD box. You could also then use your component or HDMI from the back of the directv box to one input of the HDTV. You don''t need HD service to use an HD box, but for 10 bucks a month I think it''s worth it. Anyway hope this helps.
The sat signals are at higher frequencies than the OTA signals, so they can live together on the same cable. Has to be done right on both ends, though.
