I have this thing hooked up through a Monoprice switcher. I have no problem watching movie without the switcher. When I hook up the switcher, I can go into the setup menu and play around, but playing a movies gets me the HDMI ERROR 1. This is horrible. I have three HDMI equipped pieces of equipment and one DVI input on my TV. It would be great if there was a way to use the switch. I guess I could just go back to Component Video for the HD-DVD player. Any suggestions?

That''s because the Menu setup is on a different codec than the movie itself. Sounds like the switcher is not making the correct "handshake" which has always been a probelm with HDMI switchers, some can handle 1.1 or 1.2 or 1.3 formats, sounds like your switcher can''t handle the format. I would recommend if your TV has two HDMI switches, hook up just the Sat (or cable) and your DVD player directly to the TV and any other equipment (say PS3 or 360) hook up via component cable. It sucks but they are still trying to work out all the bugs.

My fathers DishNetwork couldn''t handle connection via HDMI, so he had to switch to component connection. You can''t notice the differance, so I wouldn''t worry about it. The only real benefit right now for HDMI is if you have an upconverting DVD player or a reciever that can handle the lossless audio format via HDMI, otherwise just go with component.

It''s possible the switcher is not handling HDCP properly. That''s the most common culprit with nonfunctional HDMI hookups.
