Try going to their website for a possible release date, or go to your local shop. Sorry, this is the best I can do for you.
Masher

The HD-1000 is out there. My wife and I got one for ourselves for the holidays. They *do* seem to be in short supply--maybe Yamaha hasn''t fully ramped up production.
They also seem to be tightly controlling who can sell them. A couple of sites I searched said they were prevented from posting prices and info for it due to agreements with Yamaha. (We got ours at the local Tweeter store.)
It seems to be a pretty cool and powerful machine with 2 caveats: (1) the hard drive makes more noise than the normal audio component--especially annoying during quiet passages <I think the S&V review should''ve mentioned this>; and (2) it has THE worst-written manual in the history of badly written manuals.
This manual makes using some of the cooler features (e.g., partially erasing a track, splitting and combining tracks) *very* difficult to figure out (at least for us). Does anyone else out there have any experience with this and can give us some advice?
< December 30, 2001: Message edited by: kerningpair >
< December 31, 2001: Message edited by: kerningpair >
