View Full Version : Re: IEEE1394 or DVI

I am a novice to digital TV. I am looking to buy a Hitatchi HIT53SWX10B. The picture was superb. But recently I read that IEEE1394 or DVI may become the connection of the future between components. I have no idea if this TV has these connections. If not, is it something I should be concerned with? Thanks

Depends on if you are going with cable''s HD signal or the Direct TV/Dish Network option.
I can tell you that what ever interface connection it might have it''s probably not DVI, but IEEE 1394. But I can''t say for sure because I''m not familar with Hitatchi.
I myself wouldn''t wait to get a TV that''s already High Def. especially since you can enjoy it NOW, even w/ a progressive scan DVD player you can get a digital picture out of it.
If you want to get the most of the High Def signal that your receiving I would be somewhat concerned. I have a post listed about this, read it. Besides receiving a signal that is lower in resolution that what you''d expect keep in mind that Direct TV has only two High Def channels and Dish has four of them, the cable company providers usually only have two as well depending on where you live.
If you decide to go with the Hitatchi invest in a progressive scan DVD player, if you haven''t already.
