Maybe I''''m making an assumption here but are you guys action junkies like me? Watching chick flicks on DVD just doesn''''t do it for me. What''''s everyone''''s favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie? The best DVD I ever purchased was T2 Ultimate Edition. 4th of July 2003 T3 The Rise of the Machines I can''''t wait. wink.gif border=0

While I can''t argue that T2 is one of Arnie''s best, my personal favorite Arnie movie (not DVD) would have to be True Lies. Second best would be Commando only because I got to meet him during the filming of the mall scenes.

True Lies DTS Laserdisc and T2 with DTS in the silver metal case are my two favorite in terms of sound, picture, and mostly the movie itself!

True Lies - but that''s because Jamie Lee Curtis is in it too. That bedroom scene was workin'' for me. Arnold in the jet was also pretty cool. On the other hand Tom Arnold had all the good comedy lines. There''s supposed to be a True Lies sequel in the works.

True Lies, to me, is a classic. I cannot say enough about it. Forget about the a/v part of it for a second. Yes, Jamie looks great and her body is awesome, but the whole thing was great.
Bill Paxton driving Arnold around in that used car telling him about his getting all the women and how much he gets, etc... Those lines are priceless.
I have seen that thing at leats 30 times and that is not an exaggeration. Little things really are funny to me when I see it now. For example, when Arnold fires the missile with the terrorist on it, and he says, "you''re fired", yes that us funny. But, take a closer look at the missile as it comes towards you. You see the expression on the terrorists face as he''s screaming and headed for the building. That look on his face that comes right at you and the scream that you hear get louder and louder as if he was really coming toward you is one of the my favorite scenes in that movie.
I could watch that thing and laugh every single time as if I had never seen it. That kind of dry stuff is what I love.
Tom Arnold was really good with the lines and I think the two make a great combo. Arnold as the straight man and Tom Arnold as the comedy part of the team would really be something if they put that together for a sequel. I have read it is definitely going to happen, but they do not know for sure who is going to be in it. Arnold himself is a question mark from what I have heard.
Would anybody even see it if Arnold or Tom Arnold are not in it?

Tough call. I''d have to say Commando ( why can''t he make a movie like that again- good basic ass- kicking) or True Lies. I also think Total Recall and the Terminators are awesome.
Saw Collateral Damage this weekend. I enjoyed it, but it could have been a lot better.

zed,
Why don''t you post a classified want ad offering your DVD of Bugs Life in trade for the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition Laser Disc and see if you get any responses. Maybe you could get somebody to throw in a laser disc player and an RF demodulator so you could actually hear it in glorious 5.1 on your system.
Anyone interested in trading with zed?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Sorry zed... no takers.
tongue.gif border=0
Monkey
PS. More rub. Sorry. But I''ll make you a deal... when my system renovation is completed... you will be the first guy on the invite list to come over and enjoy all three Star Wars back to back to back in glorious remastered THX 5.1. You bring the popcorn. Oh is it glorious... "You''re all clear kid, let''s blow this thing and go home!"... BABOOM!!!!! ...rub rub rub.

True Lies, Conan, T2. All good movies, but his best was Last Action Hero.

HOW ABOUT A TRUE ARNOLD CLASSIC:
HERCELES IN NEW YORK, (1970, LONG BEFORE TERMINATOR OR CONAN).
HE HAD A STAGE NAME, GUESS THIS:
ARNOLD STRONG.
CHECK IT OUT, RENT IT ON VHS (I DON''T THINK IT''S AVAILABLE IN DVD).
YOU''LL HAVE A GOOD LAUGH.

I have the T2 and Star Wars Trilogy on Laserdisc too. I still play them occassionally just to make sure that my Laserdisc player doesn''t get messed up from not being used.
I now hate having to change the disc though.
True Lies used to be my demo disc on laser disc for DD. The DVD version seems a bit compressed to me.
wink.gif border=0

abaracadangalang,
Agreed 200% on sound quality of T2 LD vs. DVD. Not sure I could explain it, but it does sound much better to me. The DVD sounds bright and thin when compared to the LD. I feel the same way about Last of The Mohicans and several other titles.
Monkey

T2 LD superb, but I do prefer the DTS version on the Special Edition DVD. I find it is a cleaner sound without any slight popping or static you may hear sometimes. I''m talking about the DD version on LD, however. If there is/was a DTS LD, I don''t have it.

February 12th, 2002, 20:44
The Terminator,the good one(not T2)
Conan The Barbarian
They tie as my favorites.
True lies, and The Predator can''t go unnoticed.
Probably "Conan: The Return of the King" if it gets done right. That means no Simon West,Joel Schumacher, of Michael Bay at the helm.
(Preferably David Mamet or Kevin Smith on script, and a Stone or a Scott directing)

February 13th, 2002, 18:26
Wow, I got through almost all 257,426 replies on this thread, and only the last one (from AI-Skillz) relayed my opinion.
I''ll second that, AI. I''m for T1. I mean, I know T2 has better sound and video quality (sign of the times of production); but a good movie is so primarily because of the story. T1, better story.
Also, for me Conan is a very close runner up, if not a tie, depends on the mood I guess. An austrian accent placed on a fantasy barbaric warrior, or austrian accent placed on a future fiction destruction bent man killing cyborg (he had living tissues, too).
All the good ones are mentioned though; didn''t see one mentioned that I didn''t like... except pumping iron and hercules in new york, haven''t seen those.
***
Monkey,
Is the version of the SW trilogy you have on laser disc from before the fake ass looking jaba, and Han shooting first were added? If so, break it to me gently, it will sting a little. I bet we never get a chance to own that on DVD confangry.gif border=0

I likes T2 better than T1. It is one of the rare cases where a sequal is as good as or better than the original. Godfather 2 is right there with 1.

DMP,
The Special Edition THX 5.1 Star Wars Trilogy on Laser Disc is the new version with updated special effects and extra footage... I also own the original versions individually on LD in THX ProLogic with only the original cut and no ehancements.
Decisions decisions.
Monkey

I''m with ABC on this one. I think that T2 was better than T1, and hence is one of the few sequals that was better than the original. I too would consider Conan to be my second favorite! I like that Archer <surfer> guy in Conan too. Did he ever make any more movies after that? Or did he just go back to surfing?
