Hi All,

Does anyone here know of any software that can be used for the planning and design of home theater / media rooms? I''m thinking room dimensions, equipment and furniture placement, speaker distances to the listening position, rack layout, etc. I''ve tried some of those commercial home design programs, but they''re way too generic. I''ve found that even Visio is nearly useless for this.

As always, thanks to all for your expert advice.

Looking to the AES web page you could get this pdf document. www.aes.org/technical/documents/AESTD1001.pdf

By creating the circle as the bassis for your listening position it would give the optimum results.

www.dolby.com has some good eduction papers to help in the design.

Most of these software tools still dont include any acoustical analysis. It would appear that there is only a special market for this need. Mass Market has not looked into the room quality for there sound.

Reading more from this area will help also most of the questions about the base traps and Sound Panels will help also. When you get to the back of the room the diffusion should be looked into.

Crazzy Old Fart Has always been very good at assisting and answering questions with very good answers.
