I know that perfect square rooms are a bad idea, but what shape of room is ideal for a theater? My fiancee and I are looking at houses, and it is a priority for me to have a "theater" room in our house. However, a lot of the rooms that aren''t the primary gathering rooms have sloped ceilings, walls with cutouts for bay windows, open sides that lead to other areas, etc. What is a major red flag, and what is a tolerable fault?

Big is good. Non square rooms are good. Windows are bad(for the tv/projector). Carpet is bad for the acoustics(you can change that though). I would try for a rectangualr room and one where you can have good placment of the couch and surround speakers. Try to imagine your ht in the room and see how you like it.
