Hello all!

I''m closing on my first house this week and I have an extra room which will serve as my HT oasis. I had a couple of questions:

The room is 13.5 ft x 16 ft, how should I orient? I thought placing the TV centered on the 13.5 ft wall would give me more space between TV and sofa, but someone else recommended orienting the other way (placing the TV on the 13.5 ft wall). Should it make any difference at all?

Colors. I''m trying to work a dark blue wall scheme but I can''t seem to find any blues that would work. Should I even go with dark colors for the walls? I have a 36 in direct view WEGA to work with. Anyone have links to any design sites with photos so I can get an idea what others have done?

Seating. I''ve been looking at Lazboy''s theater seats for a while but the price is just a bit extreme for me. Any alternative recommendations at a more reasonable price point? Anyone experienced with Lane''s home theater seats?

Thanks in advance for the advice,
-Aaron
I just painted my new HT room whital brown, it's a benjerman moore(sp?) color(HC 69)....and before you say "OH GOD not brown" You should take a look at it, it's dark but kind of has a hint of grey to it, very sharp. It was recommended to me by my interior decorator who is designing the HT room for me. The benjerman moore product is very nice to work with it covers really well and would highly recommend using their product.

I'm from Canada so i can't say for sure that is available in the USA.

Good-Luck!!!

I would place the TV on the long wall so the speakers are far from the side walls. However, the couch will then be closer to the rear wall, which means you might want to look into acoustic treatment for the rear wall.

As for color, the best choice is actually a more reddish color, like plum or burgundy or such. This will make the "red-push" nearly all TVs exhibit appear less bad.

Are you doing 5.1 or 7.1? If you are doing 7.1 I would definitely put the TV on the 13.5' wall. If 5.1 then it might not make too much difference.
