I suggest you find a dealer who has both types. I''m sure they''ll be happy to lend you a pair to try out at home since you''ll be buying the higher end model. Audition the lower priced cables too to see if they actually give you any improvement in sound
For component video cables. Try bettercables.com
Their componnet cables have received great reviews.
wink.gif border=0
< February 25, 2002: Message edited by: apcarandang >

I had a pretty long conversation with my very experienced salesperson at Read Brothers Stereo in Charleston and she said that in runs less than 15 feet there isn''t really a big difference between speaker wire assuming you are getting pretty good stuff to begin with. She encouraged me to go with the more generic 12 gauge wire than the more expensive $2.95/foot Tara Labs speaker cable that I thought looked really cool.
So listen to both and maybe they sound the same maybe they don''t. If you can''t tell, choose based on price or appearance or whatever factors matter to you. I do think that the braided Kimber cable looks cool (when I think these things I have to stop myself and ask just how often I look at speaker cable!)
I will stop babbling for now.....sometime let me tell you about the excellent service I have had at Read Brothers, it is a place that is hard to believe.
Best of luck

Genedaddy-
Let me know about the Read Brothers. Not familiar with them but if it is a place that can do mail order I am interested.

ABC...I don''t think they are online but have never really looked. At any rate, the store is in downtown Charleston on upper King St which is an area that is really rejuvenating. The store is in an old building and is actually an annex onto a fabric store (the old Read Brothers is just a fabric store). So you go in and they ask you if you are there for fabric or HiFi.....
In the HiFi dept, they carry NAD, Adcom, Audio Refinement, California Audio Labs, Aragon, Sony, Parasound, Cambridge Audio, Kimber, Tara Labs, NHT, Spendor, and Martin Logan to name a few. Unfortunately, they don''t have B&W or Denon. At any rate, they are more oriented towards getting you what you want rather than making a sale. I talked with the salesperson about what I was looking for soundwise and then we listened to a few things to narrow down choices (along with forum members input). They then offered to let me take all this stuff home to listen to it. I know we talk about taking stuff home to demo but, of all the places I have shopped, this is the only place I have been given this chance without first making a purchase. At any rate, I have spent a good bit of money but am truly satisfied. I didn''t pay retail and didn''t get a huge discount but, considering the service and the education, I got a superior deal. If only they carried the B&W''s I want! Oh well, nobody''s perfect. If you are ever in Charleston and want a truly interesting HiFI shopping experience then Read Brothers is the place.....
By the way, how bout them Hoos!?
I''ve tried them both and could not tell a difference.
