Does anyone have a Definitive Technology Supercube 1? Any comments on first hand testing? I am just curious if it is worth the $1400 MSRP. Or should I look elswhere for a higher end sub.
I just recently upgraded my super cube 2 to a super cube 1.And man this this sub is nice. The super cube 1 can handle anything you throw at it from music to movies. For the price I got mine a little cheaper than 1400.00 at my local A/V store. In the past I have owned klipsch ref 12 and velodyne.Out of the three it was the cleanest, tightest and most accurate sub I have ever owned.I got my sub for 1125.00 with tax.So I suggest if you like the sub shop around more on the price. On another note the sub is like 14inches cubed. For the size of this sub it is truly a best buy(IMO).
I got two Powerfield subs before the SuperCubes came out, but wanted to add you do not have to pay retail for DT. You can get up to 30% on package deals, and 15-25% on single buys...I''ll let Supercube owners tell their story.
You said package deals. Is this ordering through Definitive Technology directly?
No, most authorized DT dealers offer occasional packages, or if you buy all at once you can talk a deal. Home Theater Stores and Ultimate Electronics often have DT "deals".I''ve upgraded a lot but my first package was:
2 BP30''s $1400
1 clr 1000 400
1 ProSub200 550
2 ProMonitor 100''s 350
Total $2700
paid $2000DT is like Rotel, excellent bang for the buck!!
Ok, I figure that is because the MSRP is always way more than the stores usually own the item for. Plus the salesman work on commission so if you buy alot they will work more of a deal for you. I know a store manager pretty well and he said he would work a deal on the supercube 1 when I was ready to buy in a few months. Now I just have to decide what I want first, a DVD recorder or the supercube 1.
Like Rich, I have a Powerfield model sub from Def Tech. I think they are hard to beat. Mine "only" has a 250W amp, and still provides me with plenty of punch.Btw Rich,
What wattage are yours? I think at one time you could get the Powerfields with a 325W amp and then a 500W one. I wouldn''t mind trying to find a pair of the 500W ones.
