Pawn shop speakers

I went back to Kinston today. First time I''ve been in awhile. Main reason was to go to my favorite pawn shop, where I get good deals on dvds. Since I was there last, he''s put a set of speakers out, for sale. They are towers. They''re black Boston Acoustics. I don''t remember the model number. The grill cloth wasn''t torn, but didn''t look good. Looked like some white paint got on one of them (on the cloth). The cloth wrapped around the front and both sides. They are powered speakers. The woofer(s) played out of one side, and the front was lined with speakers (tweeter and mid-range, I guess). They weren''t hooked up, so I didn''t hear them. They were about 4''-4 1/2'' tall.
Are these good speakers? I can''t swear to it, but I think he''s selling for about $500.

Mox , sounds like you saw a pair of VR-975''s . The 965''s I think only
have one driver. For $500.00 if they are 975''s thats a good deal , they
sold for about $1600.00 the pair . I own the 950''s which are the
un-powered version. If you search the web (Google) you''ll find a review
on them from Joesph DiOpolito (sp) himself. He gave them a very good
review. The sound is forward and on the bright side but thats not
always a bad thing , more a matter of tatse .

That model number sounds right. I''m not looking to buy any. I was just wondering about them.
If anyone is interested in them, let me know, and I''ll PM their phone number to you. If they sit in the store very long, he''ll put them on eBay. Grill cloth may or may not be able to be cleaned.............
