So I'm really confused about how to calibrate my 2.1 system. I have the Onkyo 605, and in the manual it says to use the Audyssey to auto calibrate the system. Then after that is done you can manually calibrate the system. I've read on the forums that it is better to calibrate the system manually. So do I leave the audyssey auto calibrate off and just manually calibrate the system myself? In the manuel I could not actually find a way to manually calibrate the system. Does anyone have the Onkyo 605, and if you do how did you manually calibrate the system? I have the radio shack mic if that helps with any info.
With a 2.1 system you only need to calibrate the subwoofer to match the level of the main speakers, and adjust the crossover to the sub so as to produce the most natural and smooth transition between it and the main speakers.
I wrote a lengthy thread on the subject offering multiple methods for doing just that. A link to that thread is in the pinned "Must Read" thread in the Audio section.
