Any thoughts out there on Power conditioning? I currently use whole house surge peotection and surge and spike protection on my audio and video gear. I have been looking at the Furman Elite 15i and the APC AV 1.5 kVA H Type Power Conditioner 120V. There are a few mirrors + smoke in the power conditioning arena. I struggle with the point where the returns start to diminish quickly for some of the technology that is advertised or claimed and the dollars that are charged. Any Input?................
There are two issues here. The first is gear protection. It sounds like you have enough protection to keep from blowing up your amps and video gear if there was a nearby lightning strike or a brownout. The other issue is degradation of sound quality. Some people can hear a difference in small variations of voltage or rf on their power lines. I can't judge for you if that would be an issue. The power supply of your amp is built to reject most of that interference. Usually if you hear rf on a system its coming through the signal train. That isn't to say if you have golden ears that you couldn't detect dirty power. But usually money is better spent in other parts of your system. Many of the former residents of this place felt money was better spent on better speakers and sound treatments of the listening room. But your mileage may vary.
