Default BOSE JEWEL CUBE

Hello Audio Freaks! one really quick question, can a set of Jewel Cube Speakers be connected to a regular receiver? I have a Yamaha that I want to hook these up to....BOSE says they cannot, seller says they can with a capacitor and a adapter......will this work? if so, can some sound quality be lost by using this?? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!

I''m sure if this were to be the only way, then YES, you would lose sound quality.

My recollection is that the cubes are not intended for direct connection. The bass modules Bose sells with them provides bass filtering for the cubes.

Even if you decide to try it, don''t forget that the cubes are VERY bass limited. They can''t reproduce much below 200 Hz. So, if you want to use them as surrounds, keep in mind most receivers, when the speaker settings are set as small, filter bass at 80 to 100 Hz. This means you would have a large MIA bass gap from 80 or 100 Hz to 200 Hz.

Depending on what model of Jewel cube that you have. I know like AM15 you can just use regular speker cable and hook it up to regular reciver. all you have to do just call 1800 444 BOSE to get the adapter

One of the es units from sony could do a better job of this through its vast/versatile crossover and speaker setup. I believe the sound integrity would be better maintained by this method.

Eric.
