Default Coraline

I picked this BD up a couple weeks ago, Home Theater magazine gave it extremely high recommendations for its picture quality and the music. It's done in stop-motion photography (think the Xmas show Rudolph) with a bunch of CGI thrown in. It also includes a version of the movie in 3-D (four pair of glasses included) and supposedly a bunch of interesting extras, which I haven't watched yet.

I did watch the 2-D version last night, and wow. Really makes my LED tv pop! Anxious to watch it again with my speakers set up (just had the tv's sound last night).

And an interesting side note: last night I also watched part of Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense, one of my favorite VHS concerts that I now have on BD. I now know what "blooming" looks like, a slight lighter halo around bright objects against a dark background that LED tvs supposedly exhibit. Yet, the Coraline disk didn't show any of that at all; I'm thinking it may be an artifact of the concert filming instead. My Oppo came with a Spears & Munsil High Definition Benchmark BD, which I guess should help me get the set dialed in and maybe have an example of "blooming".

I found Coraline to be visually beautiful, even on my computer monitor. The 3D version does the film no justice, IMO, as it fades most of that glorious color to boring grays.

I too have viewed Coraline and appreciate its PQ. Another that's along the same line with excellent PQ is Tim Burton's Corpes Bride. Outstanding!

I picked this one up to day and will view later tonight. Crash, Eddie and Scrat kill me!

haven't got Caroline, but do have Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas.

I'm hoping Tim Burton does more of these kind of creepy animations. I love these types of movies.
