WOW...
I think that is a little extreme. I know what she did was completely out of line but "banned" is a little harsh IMO. I mean hockey players straight up throw down and all they have to do is sit on a bench for a little bit for a "cool down". Contact sports are rough, she crossed the line but ... wow.

Every football player, basket ball player, wrestler, and so on probably knows what I'm trying to get at.

I played Water Polo for 7 years, and we beat the shyt out of each other every game. I got kicked out from time to time but that was for like 20 seconds till we got the ball back.

I would have maybe suspended her for a couple of games and make her do some sort of formal appology, then keep a good eye on her.

i only saw the vid yesterday, and quite taken by it. i play as well, and know that soccer (like any sport), does have its share of 'hustlin' so to speak, but not downright boxing. thats just a shame as to how someone can do something like that, and KNOW that there are cameras watching is definitely balsy for someone.

one word: Bully.

My hunch is that it went to that level because it was shown on TV. You know how the media is and how the public reacts. If this incident stayed on that field, I'll bet she would've gotten some minor suspension which would be more fitting for this case.

Now who says soccer is not a physical sport! I played all through school you would be surprised what you can get away with. Her only down fall was the video the refs never seen her. Those are stunts that you get away with when not on tape, but it still does not make it right. Since they can't fine college students I agree with the suspension.

The suspension was imposed by the school not the NCAA, there is a pretty significant difference.

Also keep in mind that the NCAA women's soccer season has only one game remaining; the conference tournament.

Different sports have different standards.

Fighting is a fundamental part of hockey - for reasons that one could write a book about - like it or not. There is a code of conduct that, for the most part, gets followed. However really dirty play (like a two-hander to the back of the head) have landed players in criminal court on assault charges.

I've played a little bit of waterpolo - but obviously nothing like Razz has. The worst beating my nuts ever took was during a "fun" co-ed pick-up game. An Australian babe went to work on me and I've not pissed straight ever since! But damn it was fun at the time.

If I fight in any of the basketball leagues that I play in now I'm banned for the season. We've had players banned for life for using tactics that that don't even come close to some of the moves that soccer lass showed - even though the refs missed the infractions.

For her repeated transgressions she deserved whatever suspension she was given.

But back to my point about hockey: fighting is the sport's natural way of catching up with players like her.

Unless I missed something, only thing she did that was unusual in soccer game was pulling down the other player's hair. Other moves shown on that video are common in that game. Having said that, one move by her to rise to the punishment level she's got has more to do with the TV coverage and its publicity craze IMO.

In other words, big f###### deal!

Elizabeth Lambert should sign a contract with UFC, oh, that won't work, UFC/MMA banned hair pulling in 1994 for fear of a broken neck law suit.

I agree, if you don't get caught breaking the law or the rules, its legal!

Suspension, ban... don't worry, she can pull this off no problem.

They may even recruit her.

In the NFL it is indeed within the rules to tackle a player by his hair.
