Check page 30 of your owners manual. You need to go into the menu and turn on the subtitle and select the desired language

Default no subtitles on BR?

i just got a new blu ray player but cant seem to find access to subtitles. is this a quirk with blu ray or am i missing something?

ok thanks, i see it now. im just used to a button on the remote for subtitles...
