I disavow any knowledge of telling "Razz stories" or any term(s) that reference "Captain", "Captain Morgan's" "Ultimate Rejection" or any mention of a wager placed on if Razz would make his flight after drinking till 5am.

Default first post in forum

Congrats to Batman on a fantastic install (new pics would be great!). My brother is Saldog78 and turned me onto this thread. My wife and I are attempting to buy our first SFH w/a basement, and my mind has been churning about a custom HT.

I've had a 7.1 Polk LSi system w/no home for about 5 years now, so I'm excited to do something!

Anyway, I just spend way too much time on this thread today reading about your whole installation, and appreciate the posts by -B-, ThumpinSub, Suave, etc. The room looks great, I'd love to see how you install the actuators in the doors, and how your seating arrangement looks.

Oh, and I never saw a review of your thoughts on the performance of the Green Glue??

^ Welcome to the forum! Saldog's a great guy and I have enjoyed his contributions to this thread.

I have several pictures accumulated and ready to post but if I post any of them now it will give away the completed project, as most of the pics are of cosmetics. I have been working on things here and there just haven't had an opportunity to finish things completely.

As far as the Green Glue.....I don't know how to address that because in addition to that product I incorporated so many other sound isolating features. Mass loaded vinyl, double drywall, isolating clips, etc. As a whole though I am very pleased with everything I've chosen to do in that regard, still though, high volume bass is very difficult to contain. Though i have cut down on it considerably compared to my last home where none of these steps were taken and I had a drop ceiling in place. If you are considering sound isolation, my advice would be spend the money and do it all right or don't bother, as anything in between may seem like a wasted effort.

Thank you, I do take great pride in knowing I did all of the design along with most of the work with some great friends pitching in! Mostly elements that were difficult to pull off such as the stage and secret door, I was really pleased with how they turned out. The theater components turned out to be the easy part...

Cool. I think I remember him mentioning that a couple of years ago.

Anyway, the contract is final on my new house (new being relative, since it was built in 1954) w/unfinished basement. Let the planning commence!
