Since speaker configuration is the same for all inputs, it makes sense to do speaker settings in the receiver, in my case a Rotel.

Is there a way to turn the settings 'off' in the Oppo? I noticed that the distance settings would go no lower than 6'.

Is there a better approach to dealing with speaker settings?

Take a read of this link.

Tho it is written for the Outlaw 990 all the settings described for the Oppo will apply with your Rotel.

I read the info at the link and it confirms the article's intent. I went back and checked the Speaker configuration on the Oppo and was able to change the speaker distance setting to '0'. Don't know what I was looking at the other day when it only went down to 6'.

Thanks for the help.
Bob.
