I think I'm going to go with one of these, although I may end up having to plug the port on my center channel as a result.

Salamander Designs might have something http://www.salamanderdesigns.com It's all modular so you can kind of design it the way you want.

I am familiar with Salamander.
The cabinet shown above is solid hardwood and very nicely made. In that finish with tinted glass doors, ventilation fans with heat sensors and ventillated shelves, it comes out to $2214 shipped.

It's only about $500 more than Salamander and this is definitely better stuff.

Salamander just has a space for a larger center channel if need be... and for what you're looking at.. that price isn't unreasonable at all.

Even with the ventilation, that seems a little high. I had mine custom made with the exact configuration I wanted, out of solid red oak, for about half of that amount.
Is your center channel a conventional center channel or is it upright, like a bookshelf speaker? Not that it makes much difference but I had trouble finding one that would accomodate an upright bookshelf speaker, thus the custom made route.

I am still exploring other options. I don't care for the Salamander Synergy triple-wide with riser and neither does my wife. Even if I did, I would rather spend $500 more for a solid hardwood piece. What I'm looking around for is something with similar dimensions, functionality and appearance for less money. I am not about to buy a $35 POS from Walmart. This is not a dorm room or a double-wide. The $250 TV stand I bought for my current set at Target is the cheapest I would ever go, but it is too small for the size set I want to get.
